Prototype Of New
Train Sets
This page shows a
prototype of one car of a new train set. It was exhibited at the Pacific Road
Sheds in Birkenhead (and later in Lime St station). The following photos and
video were taken on 13th October 2018.
The video shows
the operation of the door sliding step which is only extended out whilst the
train is at the platform, before the doors open. The step provides a continuous
surface from platform to car, thus easing the entry of disabled passengers and
removing the need for staff to provide a ramp for wheelchair users. The photos
show non-functioning mock-ups of various controls and displays.
